Liquid lift of the cheeks

Facial filler injections are part of a non-surgical lift, which may also be referred as a liquid lift. Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most common material, with such examples as Restylane®, Juvederm®, and Belotero®. Many other fillers to enhance the cheeks are available, and new fillers continue to be developed. Each of these facial filler treatments have advantages and disadvantages. In addition, every plastic surgeon and dermatologist will have his/her own preference for the cheeks. Some may prefer one filler for a certain area, while another filler for another facial area.

Cheek augmentation in the office only takes a few minutes to perform and requires a short downtime. After numbing medication, these facial fillers are injected beneath the skin in the targeted areas. The filler plumps up the skin from beneath, filling wrinkles or augmenting facial features. Patients may see an immediate result, but filler injections typically take a couple weeks to “settle”. Swelling, bruising, and/or soreness in the area may occur, which is typically minor and resolves within for first day or so. Patients may combine facial fillers with other liquid lift treatments, such as Botox®, for more complete facial enhancement.
