January 2018 Newsletter

Winter can be a magical time, but it can also wreak havoc on your skin. Healthy skin is smooth, even-toned, and hydrated. During the winter months, cold weather, wind, and forced indoor air all work together to strip your skin of much-needed moisture.

These dermatologist- and plastic surgeon-approved tips will help you maintain radiant skin all year long.

Skip Exfoliation

While exfoliation is generally part of a healthy skin care routine, it’s best to decrease the frequency or skip it all together during the winter months. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, but it can also strip your skin of the natural oils that protect it.

Use Gentle Products

Much like exfoliation, harsh facial soaps and products can negatively effect your skin during the winter. We recommend using a skin cleanser (not soap) on the face and luke warm water to be gentle on the skin.

Use Mineral Sunscreens

Sunscreen should be an essential part of your skin care routine all year long, even on cloudy daysChemical sunscreens can irritate dry skin. Mineral sunscreens tend to be less irritating.

Drink More Water

The key to healthy, glowing skin is hydration. It’s even more important during the winter months, as your body loses moisture more easily. Keep a water bottle nearby and set reminders for yourself to sip throughout the day.
