Many women and men visit us to improve their neck and jawline. They consider options such as a neck lift, facelift, and liposuction of the neck, cheeks, jawline, or face. Our Washington, D.C.atients may be uncertain what is the "best" procedure to lift the neck or provide better definition and sculpt the jawline.
Liposuction can be a great option to improve the neck with a double chin (i.e. submental fullness), especially for those with excess skin fat and relatively good skin tone. For some, liposuction alone may not be sufficient. For example, those who have always had a double or weak chin, despite diet and exercise, may need supplemental procedures. We've reviewed how patients with dental issues or an overbite are predisposed to a double chin. The best plastic surgeons also look inside the mouth and check the teeth for those who want to improve the neck. Patients who are candidates for neck fat reduction are often also candidates for other facial procedures, such as chin augmentation and cheek fat reduction (buccal fat reduction).
This woman wanted to improve her neck and chin appearance and consulted with facial plastic surgeon Dr. Chaboki. She previously had BOTOX jaw reduction to slim her face from relatively large, muscular jaws. Computer simulation allowed her to choose neck liposuction as the ideal method to further improve her jawline. Neck liposuction not only reduces neck fat, but also tightens the skin. Skin tightening after liposuction is not immediate, rather typically develops gradually over time. Before-and-after photographs demonstrate results approximately 2 months after cosmetic neck surgery. She is so happy with her new jawline and neck!
