A defined neck and jawline is requested by many. Patients consider a variety of procedures to tighten the neck and chin areas such as liposuction, neck lift, facelift, and chin surgery. Liposuction alone can improve a double chin (i.e. submental fullness), but often combined with other procedures to contour and lift the neck.
A double chin or weak chin may be present in slim individuals despite a healthy diet and regular exercise. We've reviewed how patients with an overbite are predisposed to a double chin. Top facial plastic surgeons also evaluate the mouth and jaw structures for those who want to improve the neck. Patients who are candidates for neck fat reduction are often also candidates for other facial procedures, such as chin augmentation and cheek fat reduction (buccal fat reduction).
This Washington DC woman wanted to improve her neck and chin appearance and traveled far to see facial plastic surgeon Dr. Chaboki. Computer simulation allowed visualization of potential options. She chose liposuction and a chin implant (medium) to improve facial definition. Chin implants are common in women and placed via a small incision hidden under the chin.
After photographs are approximately 2 months after cosmetic neck surgery. Recovery is considered unremarkable, and many patients return to work soon after surgery. She is thrilled with her natural results!
