Soft, full lips have been desired by women for countless ages, as it’s a sign of beauty, femininity, and fertility. As a result, cosmetic treatments in Washington DC often focus on the lips and wrinkles around the mouth. Lip enhancement may include augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane® or Juvederm®, fat injections, or lip lift plastic surgery. Both younger and older women are potential candidates for lip enhancement with non-surgical lip rejuvenation. With the variety of non-surgical cosmetic treatments that now available, lip lift plastic surgery is much less commonly requested in cosmetic surgery offices. The most popular treatments for lip enhancement remain augmentation with facial fillers.

This woman never had any prior plastic surgery and always felt her upper and lower lips were too thin and small. She had appropriate apprehension of getting too much treatment and looking “overdone”. After seeing the many positive online reviews for cosmetic surgery, she consulted with DC facial plastic surgeon Dr. Chaboki to review possible lip enhancement options. Physical examination reveals mild flattening or deflation of the upper and lower lips, especially along the sides of the lower lip. She underwent a conservative lip augmentation with Juvederm® on both the upper and lower lip. While her lipstick and makeup on after photographs also enhance the lips, she has fuller lips while still looking herself. Patients are generally allowed to wear makeup very soon after office cosmetic treatments.
