Facelift candidates in the Washington DC, Maryland, and northern Virginia areas are always looking for alternatives to a traditional facelift, which has long incisions and a prolonged recovery. A traditional facelift to rejuvenate the neck and jawline used to be the only option years ago. Modern plastic surgeons now utilize a variety of minimally invasive techniques to lift and tighten, but without the prolonged recovery or risks of a traditional facelift. While a facelift may give the maximum lifting effect, not every patient wants or has the recovery time for such plastic surgery. Some Washington DC patients may obtain a neck lift just by reducing neck fat with liposuction alone and/or augmenting the chin.

This Washingtonian wanted to improve the neck and "double chin" with a fast recovery and minimum risk. Understanding that probably only a neck lift or lower facelift would adequately lift the skin and tighten the neck muscle, she spoke with various Washington DC plastic surgeons to discuss options. After consultation with facelift surgeon Dr. Chaboki, she decided on a more conservative approach to facial rejuvenation would be appropriate for her at this time. She always felt her chin was small, so she elected to augment the chin with a silicone implant. The neck fat was reduced with liposuction alone, and no skin was removed. Very small incisions were hidden just under the chin and behind the ears which are not visible. The silicone chin implant provides a smooth augmentation of the lower face.
